Facial Aesthetics

When we laugh, smile or frown we use muscles in the face that are creased or contracted into folds of skin that form movement wrinkles more commonly known as dynamic wrinkles.

If your dynamic wrinkles make you look older than you are, or make you look angry or worried even when you are not, you can now do something about it without surgery, scars and recovery time.

Feeling good about how we look is important for our self-esteem and confidence. It helps create a sense of well-being and vitality.
Many women and an increasing number of men want to maintain and enhance their looks in a subtle and natural way without going to the extremes of a surgical facelift. Botox and Dermal fillers make this possible.

Botox:

How does it work?

Botox and Dysport (both Botulinum Toxin Type A ) when administered have the effect of temporarily weakening the muscles responsible for wrinkling, giving the face a more relaxed, pleasant and younger appearance, the wrinkles become smoother or may disappear altogether.

What is Botox? (Botulinum Toxin)

Botulinum toxin is a purified protein, which has the effect of temporarily weakening muscles. It has safely and effectively been used in medicine for over 30 years to treat conditions such as strabismus (cross–eye) blepharospasm (lid spasm) and cerebral palsy. It has been used successfully for the cosmetic treatment of facial lines for over 15 years.

When and how long does Botox (Botulinum toxin) work?

The initial effects of treatment become visible within 48 to 72 hours, the maximum effect is reached in about 1-2 weeks. Your facial expression will become more relaxed but by no means mask-like. The overall result is very natural.

The effect of Botox generally lasts 3-4 months, depending on the patient.

The longer one has been having “Botox” the longer the effect lasts.

If you decide to stop treatment, any permanent lines and wrinkles will gradually return.

What if my lines are deep?

If your lines are very deep we may also discuss the additional use of dermal fillers which contain Hyaluronic acid to fill in and smooth wrinkles.

Why have Botox?

Many people chose to have Botulinum toxin to look fresher, less tired, less stressed and ultimately younger.

Dermal Fillers:

How do they the work?

Dermal fillers are used to plump up the skin, refine facial contours, smooth out wrinkles and furrows and enhance lips. The result of treatment leaves your skin looking younger and healthier, whilst still maintaining a natural look.

What are they made from?

The fillers we use are made from a substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluranic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body, it is a natural part of our skin that exists in abundance in our youth; it attracts water, resulting in plumpness and hydration of our skin. As its presence diminishes with age facial lines folds and wrinkles appear.

Is it safe?

As hyaluronic acid based fillers are non-animal based these are fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required, and it is broken down and eliminated by the body through natural processes.

Does it hurt?

Prior to any dermal filler treatment a mild anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area for your comfort. Local anaesthetic is also used when necessary.

How long does it last?

Results can vary according to a person’s age, genetic background, skin quality, lifestyle and aftercare. In general it normally lasts for an average of 4 – 6 months.

Why have fillers?

Not only can fillers help disguise lines furrows and wrinkles they can also help enhance and define lips and also improve facial contour which can make such a difference.
